What this covers
TableTalk answers the phone for restaurants and takes their orders with an AI voice. This policy explains what we collect when you call one of those restaurants, why, and what we do with it. The restaurant you called owns the order. We run the phone agent and kitchen dashboard on its behalf.
What we collect on a call
- A recording of the call, including your voice.
- A transcript of what was said, written automatically.
- The phone number you called from.
- Your name, if you give it.
- The order: items, quantities, special requests, allergy notes, and pickup time.
Why we collect it
We need it to take your order, put it on the kitchen tablet and quote a ready time. The restaurant uses it to call you back if something about the order needs checking. We use it to find and fix faults in the service. We don’t use call data for marketing.
Calls are answered by AI and recorded
When you call a TableTalk number, you are talking to an AI voice, not a person. The call is recorded and transcribed. If you’d rather not be recorded, hang up and call the restaurant another way.
How long we keep it
Recordings, transcripts and order details are kept until the restaurant or you ask us to delete them.
Who can see it
- The restaurant, through its kitchen dashboard, sees the orders and call details for that restaurant.
- TableTalk staff can open call records to provide support and fix faults.
We don’t sell personal information.
Who we use to run the service
These providers handle data only so they can provide their part of TableTalk to us. Several are based overseas, so your information may be processed outside Australia.
- Twilio: phone calls and phone numbers.
- Anthropic: the language model that understands the caller and works out the reply.
- ElevenLabs and Cartesia: turn what the caller says into text.
- Cartesia: the AI voice that speaks.
- Neon: the database that stores orders and call records.
- Railway and Vercel: host the TableTalk phone agent and this website.
- Resend: sends us an email when someone fills in the form.
Demo recordings on the homepage
The two call recordings on the homepage are demos. They were made during our own testing, with the consent of the people who took part. Only first names are used.
The contact form on this site
If you ask for a call through the form on the homepage, we keep the name, venue, phone number and suburb you give us so we can ring you back. We don’t share them or use them for anything else.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and make a complaint if you think we have handled it badly. You can ask us to delete a call record at any time. We will delete it unless we need to keep it to resolve a complaint or the law requires us to keep it.
